Everyone Deserves a Home

FALL 2020
We are excited to be working to find solutions for real concerns within our community on the North Coast of Oregon; housing for locals and access to community for those with intellectual or developmental disabilities. In 2018/19 we have seen firsthand the challenges people with intellectual or developmental disabilities must sometimes endure.  We are happy to step into this new paradigm where neighborhood means everything and isolation is a thing of the past. We have also witnessed the power of a vision of an inclusive dream that embraces integrity, patience, and has devoted team members.  Thank you, to our partners, supporters, and community, for your support and bravery to discover with us what innovative thinking will bring our community on this journey. Special thanks to Tillamook County, the City of Nehalem, the Oregon Dept. of Environmental Quality, PBS Engineering & Environmental, and Community Vision Inc. for a solid partnership, and we look forward to more budding collaborations as they evolve. We are working to clean these 3 acres in Nehalem so we can begin to envision how to create independent housing for all while embracing everything the land wants to be. The cleanup is well underway and we look forward to the day we can invite everyone for a tour. Until then, please follow our updates (below). See photos here.

Many have asked what is next, such a good question. In early 2021 the EPA in partnership with the DEQ will finalize the remainder of the cleanup. Yes, more cleanup! Some very small amounts of soil spoils were found in three acute areas that will be scooped away and replaced with clean fill. Meanwhile, the SP Board is working on affordable housing feasibility for the site. This work includes a multitude of surveys and visioning that aligns with many factors that regulate what can and cannot happen. Creating affordable housing has many layers, barriers, and detailed considerations. Please reach out if you would like to help in any way.
